What is included in the course fee?
All required AZ DPS CCW Permit application forms, all related printed material,
Fingerprinting, and Range Fees.
What other fee, if any, is required for my CCW Permit?
A processing fee in the amount of $60 (Cashier’s Check or Money Order ONLY) made
payable to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. This payment is submitted with your
CCW Permit Application form and Fingerprint Card upon completion of the course. Again,
remember that your instructor will provide you with, and help you complete the required
forms at the beginning of class. The application and fee must be submitted within 5 years
of the class.
How old must I be to receive my AZ CCW Permit?
You must be 21 Years of age, however, you may attend the 8 Hour CCW Course if you
are 20 years of age and your 21st birthday is within six (6) months of the date you
complete training (Certification Date).
What does the range handgun qualification consist of?
A Silhouette target is used. A total of 10 shots, 5 shots in the body at 5 yds, 5 shots in the
body at 10 yds and a score of 70% is required for range qualification.
Am I required to use my own handgun, and if so are there any special
requirements?
Yes. We ask that you bring whatever handgun you feel comfortable with. Revolvers and
Semi-auto in good working order .22 - .45 Cal are acceptable. You need to have a case
or bag for your firearm. Loaner guns are available.
Is ammunition provided?
No, you are responsible for your own ammunition. You will need a minimum of 25 rounds.
You may, and are suggested to bring more for additional practice, time permitting.
What am I required to bring to class?
Pen (with black ink only), note paper, handgun (unloaded and in a case or bag), a
minimum of 25 rounds of factory ammunition and ear and eye protection if you have it. If
you don’t have ear and eye protection, we will provide it for you. We can provide a
handgun for qualification if needed.
