WHY SHOULD I HIRE A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR?
Are you looking for a missing loved one? Trying to find an old friend? A Private
Investigator can accomplish this and more. By using your information, a Private
Investigator can locate names, addresses, phone numbers and more through any number
of resources, providing you with relevant information.
Having domestic problems? Concerned about your spouse's or partner’s late night
activities? A Private Investigator who is trained in surveillance techniques can provide
you a detailed and accurate account of the person’s activity. Photograph and video
evidence can usually be obtained. However, in all instances a detailed report will be
provided.
A pre-employment investigation can give you an advantage and save time, money, and bad publicity.
By investigating a prospective employee, you can determine if their credentials are authentic and
match with what they are claiming. A background search will also determine if the potential
employee has required training, licensing and experience in the required fields to reduce the total
cost of training later and possible employee and equipment costs.
Additionally, a pre-employment investigation can reveal careless driving habits, possible criminal
history, or other undesirable information about a potential employee. This can reduce the chance of
inflated insurance costs, employee pilfering, and other problems that can lead to higher expenditures.
Most states require employers to show clear and just cause prior to the dismissal of any employee.
By documenting improper actions and employee behavior you may reduce or eliminate the possibility
of a wrongful discharge lawsuit after the dismissal of an employee.
Unless you are very familiar with private investigation work, you could be putting yourself in grave
danger if you try to do your own private investigation. You are most likely not trained or experienced
in the art of surveillance or counter-surveillance and are therefore more likely to blow your cover
early in the investigation. This exposure could very well lead to greater danger for you when the
subject you are trying to follow realizes your presence, especially if the person has criminal
experience or something valuable to lose.
It is far more sensible for you to hire the services of a private investigator who has been specially-
trained in the art of undercover and surveillance work. An experienced private investigator is in a
position and has sufficient resources to reduce the risks of detection throughout the whole
investigation process – something that will be nearly impossible for you to achieve.
Investigation work is not merely about asking a lot of questions – although interviewing is a very
important skill. More important is the manner in which the investigator asks those questions – making
use of probing techniques or asking open-ended questions which will provide leads and answers.
CHOOSING A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR?
Once you've decided that you need to hire a Private Investigator you need to know how to choose a
Private Investigator. But what do you look for and how to decide who to use?
First of all, you want to find one that operates in your desired search area. It isn't of any benefit to
hire a Private Investigator that isn't in your locale. They may take the case, but you will have to pay
for their transportation to obtain satisfactory results, and that can get expensive. Look in your local
Yellow Pages or search the Internet with a search (Google, Yahoo, etc.) of something similar to
“private investigator phoenix” to see if there are any in your area.
When you contact a private investigation agency to discuss your case it is very
important to know if they will be doing the actual investigation. Many private investigators
sub-contract out their work to other companies and investigators, even for local work. Unless you
ask, you will not know that the company you hired is not doing the work. Private Eye
Investigations, LLC never sub-contracts out for local assignments, in fact we are often
used by other companies to conduct their assignments, which they receive the credit for. Private
Eye Investigations maintains a staff of investigators who are actual employees of our company.
They have been trained by us and are very familiar with conducting investigations in a proper
manner. Since they are our employees we are able to directly supervise the work being done and
have direct control of the investigation. When the work is sub-contracted there is no direct control
or supervision in most cases. If you wanted another private investigation company to conduct your
investigation wouldn't you have hired them yourself. Our investigations are always professionally
conducted and we have the resources within our company to conduct the investigation ourselves.
If there is a need to obtain assistance from an outside source for an area of specialization we
always tell the client.
Experience and Training are very important to a Private Investigator. A Private Investigator should be
effective in his work in order to cut down on time and save money. Examine references if given and
if you would like, contact previous clients of the investigator to see if they are accurate.
Somewhere within the initial contact with the Private Investigation Agency you should ask about
their training, experience and what sort of investigative work is their specialty. Tell them exactly
what your problem is or what sort of information that you need, and be sure to ask if they are
capable of handling your case at this time. Set a budget that you want to work within. Ask about
supplemental charges such as mileage (Private Eye Investigations does not charge mileage in most
instances) which can add up quickly.
Always get a written agreement as to the work being contracted and the fees to be charged. You
should also ask if they are licensed, bonded, and insured. Liability insurance is not required in
Arizona and some company’s choose to operate without it.
